10-20-18

First thing this morning, at 8:04 we felt a little shake.  Being from Oregon, we knew it was an earthquake.  We were right.  The news said it was a 4.0 quake centered near the Canyon we visited yesterday.  They speculated that it was caused by fracking.  Evidently, many quakes are happening all the time in nearby Oklahoma for that reason.  I'll try not to get political here.

Exploration in Amarillo took us to the Historic Rt. 66 area.  It is pretty run-down and we both thought the city is missing a great opportunity for tourism if it would just invest a little to spruce it up.  We did find a great coffee shop for lunch, though, called Coffee Fixx.

So, we got our Fixx on Route 66!  Actually, we had breakfast for lunch and were the only customers there.  It was a real find, but I don't see how it can succeed all by itself.

After lunch we went to a T-Mobile store to add a hotspot to Gary's account. (I'm with Verizon.)We've been having trouble with data usage, so now we have additional backup.  As most of you know, I'm working part-time for the man who bought our delivery service.  I answer the phones for him and do some computer work, so I really need to be connected.  This should help.

Another night in Texas, another steakhouse.  Actually, we went back to the one we went to on Thursday night.  The food was good and the place is so quirky!

Just a few of the crazy things inside.

We got serenaded with country songs during dinner.  I asked for love songs and they supplied them.  Really fun.
They serve these peppers with every meal but the waitress said they were too hot to eat.

Yesterday I wrote about all the mud we got on the truck going to the Canyon.  We went through a car wash yesterday but found more mud today, so we went through Quick Quack after dinner.  There is still some mud, but the situation is much improved.  Are you asleep, yet?
