10-16-18

Fantastic sightseeing day in Albuquerque.  Above is a pumpkin patch we saw from the highway.

The highlight was the Anderson Abruzzo International Balloon Museum.
Of course, one of Albuquerque's best known traditions is the Balloon Festival in October.  This museum explained the history of ballooning and had amazing displays.

I think we will have to see this festival.  Maybe next year.

After this museum, we went to the Open Space Visitor's Center.  They are in charge of trails and open areas throughout the area.  On the grounds of the center, but still mostly buried is a recently discovered Pueblo which probably housed 9,000 or more Native Americans.  It is one of the reasons the center is located there, to protect the area.  The petroglyphs in the hills were drawn by the people living there.

Here is a gorgeous view of the mountains that overlook the city.  We really enjoyed Albuquerque.  If we were ever going to move (which we aren't) we would consider moving here.
