10-11-18

Today is my half birthday.  This is a little family tradition we have had with the children since they were small.  We customarily give the half-birthday person half of a cupcake, half of a birthday card and sing half of the birthday song.  Since we're on the road, we didn't really get it done, but I'm sure we'll remember next year.

Above is a typical view of the rocks near Prescott, AZ.  We arrived yesterday and are parked at Point of Rocks RV Park near our dear friends, Bob and Jan Baker.  We raised our kids together in Springfield, VA and have remained close.

We had so much to share.  It has been a couple of years since we got together but it seems just like yesterday.  That's how it is with old friends.

Lunch was at a little hole in the wall called The Dinner Bell, even though it is never open for dinner. Very good, though.

One striking thing about Rt. 89 into Prescott is how many new roundabouts they've built in anticipation of development to the north.  The one below was our favorite.
Do you know what it's called when old people sit around and talk about their physical ailments?

An organ recital!

  1. About the half birthday -- I'd hold out for at least 2/3 or 3/4. I mean, c'mon, there's cake involved. So cool to hang out with good friends along the way. And how lucky is it that you are getting so much blue sky!!!???
