10-19-18

A day of adventure in Amarillo, TX.  We started out to see the beautiful Palo Duro Canyon, which is a Texas State Park.  Famous last words from Gary, "Let's take the back roads to get there."  Uh oh!  Since it was pouring all day yesterday there was lots of mud and it got on his precious truck.  After we got back from the Canyon we went through the car wash and there is still mud on it.  Lesson learned?

The Interpretive Center at the Canyon was very well done.  It had examples of fossils, geologic samples and artifacts from the lives of the natives.   There was also a lovely gift shop and all the sales went toward the upkeep of the Center and the Canyon.

The trip was well worth the drive.

For dinner we tried another steakhouse.  This one was called Hoffbrau Steaks, which sounded German to me but there was nothing German about this restaurant.  The beef was even better than the place we ate last night.  I don't know what we will do to top it tomorrow night.
