Fourth of July in Philadelphia, PA.  How patriotic can you get?

This morning I noticed an amazing thing.  The sesame seed bagels we bought in NY have sesame seeds on the tops and on the bottoms.  That means if you are sharing, no one gets short-changed.  Why can't they do that everywhere?

Driving through Philadelphia we saw this amazing inlaid wall.  It was all hand-done with tile work and mirrors.  It is hard to tell from the picture how intricate it was.
We also saw this sign for the Arts Bank in the Art District.
We were still searching for Gary's eclairs when we found a branch of Carlos' Bakery.  This is the bakery on the TV reality show Cake Boss.  Evidently they have opened them all over the place.  Gary gave the eclair two thumbs up and has another dessert tucked away for later tonight.  Our friend Linda, who lives in Pensacola Beach, FL cracked me up when she said she wanted to poke Gary in the ribs because he always says his body is a temple, but is always on the lookout for eclairs and British sweets.  Love that!

I've seen three of these donkeys around Philly but I can't say if they are an official mascot of the city.  This one was outside Jim's where we had our second evening of Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches for dinner.  It was very good but I think we liked the ones from Ishkabibbles better.  They made better use of the cheese whiz.
We've battened down the hatches and already hitched the car to the trailer for our move in the morning because we are due for some downpours tonight and tomorrow.  Everyone hopes the fireworks are not canceled.
