12-17-18

On the way from Houston to San Antonio we saw some interesting things.  The first was a sign that said, "Evaculane open when flashing.".  It meant the shoulder could be used to drive on if the city was evacuating because of a hurricane.  I never heard of an evaculane before.    The second was a billboard advertising International Ranch - Hog Hunting.  People actually hunt pigs?  The third was a body of water called Woman Hollering Creek.  Isn't travel broadening?
The campground we are using is a good one.  There aren't too many people here and it's only 4 miles from the Alamo and downtown San Antonio.  Below are some views of the skyline including the Tower of the Americas and the unusual Frost Bank Building.

We went to the Alamo this morning.  It was smaller than I thought and very interesting.  Pictures inside were not allowed, nor was anyone allowed to touch the walls.

An absolute pleasure was the Riverwalk.  It wasn't what I expected, either.  The views were lovely but I expected lots of art work and really, it was all restaurants.  We will see the part near the Art Museum tomorrow.

This carriage was pulled by a horse with hooves painted pink with glitter to match.
