8-7-17

Ahhh, the fresh Pacific Ocean breezes!  We have had a record-setting run of nineties and hundreds for temperatures in Portland, plus over 55 days with no rain.  We decided to escape to Florence, OR where we knew it wouldn't get above the seventies this week.

On the way here we saw someone's old VW Beetle with broom brushes stuck to the roof to look like a Mohawk.  Hilarious.  Wish I'd gotten a picture.

We are staying at Pacific Pines RV Park, which is quiet and clean.  The whole park is concrete sites with graveled plant beds between each.  The dogs enjoyed the dog park, which featured a tree dressed as a University of Oregon fan.
In the late afternoon the wind came up with gusts to 21 mph but this was a good thing as it helped to blow away some of the smoke we are experiencing from the British Columbia fires.  Even though there is a little smoke here, it is nothing like what we left behind at home.
We had a runner made for the center aisle in the TrailBayser.  So far, so good.  We were tripping over the seven bathroom rugs we were using before.  No one wants a broken hip!

The GPS in the Infiniti is rebooting every three or four minutes in this area.  We have had this problem before in other areas but never this severe.  It is aggravating but we can look up directions on the computer before we go anywhere this week.  For this and other reasons, the Infiniti's days are numbered.  Gary has that new-car look about him.

Tonight we went to Three Rivers Casino for the Monday Night Senior Special at the buffet.  It is $9.99 if you are over 55.  What a deal!

The picture of the RVs above is at the Casino.  They allow free RV parking for four days but have no electricity, water or sewer.  Still, you can see how many people take advantage of the offer.

The seal statue is at the front door of the casino.  I don't remember it being there last time we visited.

If all goes well, Gary will be able to play golf tomorrow.  It has been much too hot for him to play at home for weeks.
